What to bring, what we provide, and what to do if they cannot sit still

9 Oct 20261 min read

The practical questions every parent asks before the first class. Answered plainly.

What to bring: a pencil, and an apron if you have one. That is genuinely it.

What we provide: paper, paint, brushes, aprons, all the materials, and the tea.

If they cannot sit still: come anyway. The first fifteen minutes of a class are drawing games that involve movement, and a child who fidgets is usually a child who needs a different way in. Tell me before the class and we will find the group that fits.

If they have drawn before and think they are good at it: good. Send them. The class will not be slowed down by them, and they will find out what they actually know.

If they have never drawn at all: also good. Most of the children who surprise me in the first class are the ones who had never been told they were allowed to draw badly.
